Today’s readings

This morning before I left the house to run I read the readings for today’s Mass. I love the first reading from Isaiah. It is one of my favorites and hangs near the entry to the House of Peace at Mt. Irenaeus.

“On this mountain the LORD of hosts
will provide for all peoples
A feast of rich food and choice wines,
juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines.
On this mountain he will destroy
the veil that veils all peoples,
The web that is woven over all nations;
he will destroy death forever.
The Lord GOD will wipe away
the tears from all faces;
The reproach of his people he will remove
from the whole earth; for the LORD has spoken.”

I’ve really enjoyed all of the readings from Isaiah and Jeremiah this week along with the Gospels. There is a real image of a loving father in all of these readings. Due to the retirement of my friend Fr. Mike there is no longer a daily Mass I can attend in our community. The new priest though much younger than Fr. Mike has Mass at 8:30 am. I have to be at work by 8:00 and so I’ve had to content myself to go without daily Mass. I miss it and I knew I would. I’ve made a conscious effort for Advent to read the daily readings anyway Mass or no Mass.
