Ending the War on Christmas

We live with the conviction that acts of goodness reflect the hidden light of His Holiness. His light is above our minds but not beyond our will. It is within our power to mirror His unending love in deeds of kindness, like brooks that hold the sky.”- Rabbi Abraham Heschel

I read a well written article by Bishop Gabino Zavala, President of Pax Christi USA. I hope you take time to read it and to spend some time praying for an end to this and other wars. Pundits and panderers have made much of the so-called “War on Christmas”, but they’ve missed the point. The reason for the season is Jesus and he is the Prince of Peace. He is shalom. War only begets war. Only through acts of goodness and even goodness to our enemies will bring peace. “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head. Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.” That puts the Christ in Christmas.
