A couple of years ago I read “Genesee Diary” a book written by Henri Nouwen about six months spent at Abbey of the Genesee, a Trappist Monastery in upstate New York. Abbey of the Genesee is one of my favorite haunts. I’ve been visiting the Abbey frequently over the past 28 years since I first read, Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton. This week I attended Mass there on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Not all of you can visit the Abbey and so thanks to Google Video you can get a flavor of what life is like there. Three days a week the Monks bake “Monks Bread” which is sold in Western New York Stores and now is available via the Internet. Follow this link to their website.
