Believe it or not this blog has been nominated for two different awards. I never intended this to be anything more than random rambling, but someone must think what I’m writing is credible. I’ve been nominated in two categories. If you want to vote for this or any blog you can surf over to CatholicBlog Awards register and vote.
Reflections of a Secular Franciscan has been nominated in these two categories.
1. Best Individual Catholic Blog
2. Best Political/Social Commentary Catholic Blog
In the past thirteen months since I started doing this I’ve learned that blogs and bloggers are making a contribution to writing and in some cases journalism. The corporately controlled media tell and report on stories that reinforce the corporate reality. It’s a reality that reinforces the status quo. In the United States this status quo has been unwavering support for the War in Iraq, the war on the poor and disenfranchised and in many ways an overall hostility to the gospel of Jesus. Blogs and bloggers in some cases are the new desert fathers and mothers. They have gone away from the mainstream and are reacting to it. I am a part of that movement although that was never my intent when I started doing this. Through writing, reading, praying and living each day I’ve come to read wonderful writing by authors who in most cases are not connected to the official media. They are the voice of the people. Their writing is not filtered by an advertiser or an official network. I’m grateful to all the bloggers I read regularly and to the many people who read and in some cases comment on what I’ve written. Your comments have helped me to grow both as a writer and in every other aspect of my life. I’m grateful in every aspect of the word. Peace and all good to all of you.
