Attack dogs

Mr. Bush has sent out his attack dogs to discredit Senate and House Democrats who are stipulating a time line for a withdrawal from Iraq. Vice President Cheney and Senator John Kyl of Arizona are among the voices. Senator Kyl never served in the U.S. Military. He’s what you call a “chickenhawk”. Vice President Cheney is a chickenhawk’s chickenhawk as he got five deferments during the Vietnam conflict when most men his age were serving their country either in Western Europe or in Southeast Asia. Former Speaker of the House of Representative’s, Mr. Tom Delay, recently claimed that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are dangerously close to treason. You know where Tom was during Vietnam? You guessed it. Why are these cowards maligning people who’ve had enough of their phony war that has killed thousands of our soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghanis?

Their appetite for bloodletting know no bounds. One has to wonder what drives such individuals. Have they no shame? No conscience? How does one send young men and women to die in a bogus war and then attack those of us who have the eyes to see what they are doing?

“Of course the people don’t want war. But after all, it’s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.”– Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials
