One of my friends, PlainFoolish has written a thoughtful piece on the current state we find ourselves in here in the United States. It is hot here today and yet there is a peaceful gentle wind blowing, but half a world away in the deserts, streets and villages of Iraq there is enormous slaughter. American soldiers pitted against Iraqis in an endless morass of bloodshed and carnage. Here at home we have an intransigent Whitehouse led by an incompetent president and a bumbling Congress with no will to impeach either Mr. Cheney or Mr. Bush and put them on trial for defaming, defrauding and debasing the constitutional principles that they swore to protect and defend.
Here in the United States you can impeach a president for perjury and obstruction of justice if you catch him/her lying about adultery. You cannot however impeach a President and Vice-President for leading a country and a world into war and killing of innocents. I share in the frustration of my fellow citizens and the citizens of the world as we witness this incredible miscarriage of justice. However I remember the powerful words of Mahatma Gandhi.
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall — think of it, ALWAYS. –M.K. Gandhi.
It is important to remember that we cannot hate these incompetent and very sick people. Hatred only brings more hatred and we have enough of that to go around. The only way to change the situation is to bring more “soul force” to bear on them and on the situation. Love is more powerful than hate and in the end we will win.
Thank you. I, like many military family members, have been taught how to “suck up and soldier”. I have come to the conclusion that this has been used by our unscrupulous “leaders” to further abuse service members by hiding their very real suffering. It also allows them to hide behind the troops as though any criticism of the administration is a criticism of the men and women who serve us.
I call Bull.
It’s time for those of us who know, who have lived the reality they blather so glibly about to tell the truth.
