Putting your money where your mouth is..

Believe it or not the White House opposes pay raises for our troops. Yeah, these are the same clowns who equate supporting the President with supporting the troops. The White House has supported tax breaks for the wealthy, but when it comes to putting your money where your mouth is with our military. Well, let’s just say they came up short.

“The slightly bigger military raises are intended to reduce the gap between military and civilian pay that stands at about 3.9 percent today,” according to the report. “Under the bill, HR 1585, the pay gap would be reduced to 1.4 percent after the Jan. 1, 2012, pay increase.”

The report continues, “Bush budget officials said the administration ‘strongly opposes’ both the 3.5 percent raise for 2008 and the follow-on increases, calling extra pay increases ‘unnecessary.'”

The White House’s policy statement opposed several other Congressional provisions as well, including a death gratuity for civilians who die in support of military operations and benefits for disabled retireees and their survivors.–Rawstory

  1. Ugh. I wonder if the “Commander guy” has even considered why the soldiers he is responsible for have been caught in payday loan debt…

And yes, I mean responsible for. Shakespeare had a wonderful soliloquy that he put into his play Henry V in which the young king ponders his responsibility in going to war and the price that the soldiers under his command are paying.
