Thank you to all the people who prayed for our daughter. She seems to be progressing well. Her fever broke over twenty-four hours ago and her leg looks much better. The redness and swelling are subsiding. Dara is hoping to return to her normal life soon. I know that your prayers really helped her and I’m deeply moved by the number of visitors to this site who not only viewed the request but also left a comment. In all the writing I’ve done this simple request for prayer elicited the greatest response.
I’m praying too that all of you have peace and wellness in your lives and families. I’m leaving you with this prayer today which comes from a Celtic Writer.
“Deep peace I breathe into you,
O weariness, here:
O ache, here!Deep peace, a soft white dove to you;
Deep peace, a quiet rain to you;
Deep peace, an ebbing wave to you!
Deep peace, red wind of the east from you;
Deep peace, grey wind of the west to you;
Deep peace, dark wind of the north from you;
Deep peace, blue wind of the south to you!
Deep peace, pure red of the flame to you;
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you;
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you;
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you;
Deep peace, pure grey of the dew to you,
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you!
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you!
Deep peace of the Yellow Shepherd to you,
Deep peace of the Wandering Shepherdess to you,
Deep peace of the Flock of Stars to you,
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you,
Deep peace of the heart of Mary to you,And from Bridget of the Mantle,
Peace, Deep Peace!
And with kindness too of Dalua the Haughty Father
Peace, Deep Peace!
In the name of the Three who are One,
Peace, Deep Peace!
And by the will of the King of the elements,
Peace, Deep Peace!
And by Grace of the Queen of Heaven
Peace, Deep Peace!Fiona Macleod
Enjoy this prayer in a melodic version by Bill Douglas. It’s one of my favorite tracks. As a matter of fact I listened to it last night on my way home from the hospital as I drove along Route 5 between Dunkirk, New York and Silver Creek, New York. As I looked upon the peaceful waters of Lake Erie I listened to this lovely track from Bill Douglas.
Deep Peace – (Choral Version) by Bill Douglas
So glad your daughter is feeling better.
Thanks for reminding me about (and linking to) this song–I used to sing it in the Unitarian Universalist choir I belonged to. So beautiful! I’m glad to have the poem.
