Here’s a well written piece that echoes some of what I’ve been thinking lately. Cultural conservative is really polite speak for bigot and hate monger.
an irrational hatred of gays, a suppression of women’s rights, the assertion that only they are going to heaven and that all those that don’t embrace their particular permutation of Christianity will burn (among other things) in Hell!
I’ve been thinking on this some lately, too – not to overly judge the ones I cringe at because of their judging – but it is so painful to hear (and witness) anger and hate in the name of God and – for some reason, particularly Christ. Surely I’m not naive enough to think this is a new phenomenon, yet somehow it doesn’t hurt any less.
I’m starting to build an appreciation for the Huffpost.
Yeah, I know what you mean. “Doesn’t matter what you do… Believe that Jesus died for your sins or you can just go to hell.”
That brand is getting tiresome.
