First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
–Mahatma Gandhi
Barack Obama’s quest for the presidency reminds me of this quote. Conventional wisdom had anybody Obama being in the spot he’s in versus John McCain. All the pundits wanted Hillary. Hillary wanted Hillary. But, it was the voice of the people that first spoke in the Iowa winter that changed all that. We are one nation and one people and our time has come. We are not Red America and Blue America, we are the United States of America.

Of course, an Obama victory would be a defeat for life when it comes to abortion. He is also perfectly willing to fight war, so that’s another life-related knock.
I have a hard time imagining how a Catholic who really takes faith into account when voting can vote for Obama.
I will gladly vote for Obama. He is pro-choice and so am I. He has a vision for an American future. The other guy has no vision, he is a continuation of the same failed policies of the current administration.
Pro-choice – and Catholic? The two are in conflict – and as a number of Catholic leaders have said, abortion is a non-negotiable issue.
I am saddened to hear this. I suspect Francis would be too.
