At our Secular Franciscan Fraternity meeting on Sunday one of our members distributed “Peace Print” refrigerator magnets and car magnets. Sr. Karen Klimczak, was brutally murdered in Buffalo, New York on Good Friday last year. I never met her, but she leaves a legacy of peace. You can read more here. I decided to take one of the magnets and put it on my car. I hope the sign helps me to remember to be a peacemaker as much as it reminds others. The only way to peace is through my own peaceful heart. I can’t be a peacemaker until I have peace in my own heart.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith:
Where there is despair, hope:
Where there is darkness, light:
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love:
For it is in giving that we receive:
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned:
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
