I took advantage of the Columbus Day holiday for one more day of driving, shopping and sightseeing. I had some destinations and objectives today. I wanted to visit the Once Again Nut Butter Factory in nearby Nunda, New York.
I’ve enjoyed their peanut butter since first discovering it at Abbey of the Genesee earlier this year. I found out I couldn’t buy their products at the factory and had to purchase them across the street at the Nunda Lumber Company. I purchased a jar of tahini butter and a jar of sunflower butter. I thought both my wife and daughter would enjoy these. Next I set my GPS to Naples, New York and headed over the hill to Dansville, New York then down Interstate 390 to Cohocton and over to Naples. My wife had asked me to pick up a grape pie and I wanted to get some more grapes. I love Concord grapes. I got to Naples and stopped at Joseph’s Wayside Market. I got both the grapes and grape pie there. I decided I’d follow Route 21 fron Naples north along Canandaigua Lake to Canandaigua. It was warm and hazy today but that didn’t detract from the lovely rolling countryside the surrounds the lake. There were plenty of lovely vistas. I even stopped a bought a grape tart at one of the roadside stands. I stopped at the Great Harvest Bread Store in Canandaigua. I love their Montana Mud bars. It was getting close to dinner time and so I turned my cruiser homeward and drove west on Route 20 then onto I-390 again and followed the road to Geneseo, New York and eventually to Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard. Whenever I’m near the abbey I just have to stop and sit in their chapel. I arrived just as Vespers were ending. I took a quick tour of their bookstore and then headed for home. I snapped this picture on my trip. The leaves are approaching their peak.
