Yesterday, was my daughter’s 20th birthday party. We had a group of family and friends gathered at Richardson’s Canal House on the banks of the Erie Canal at Bushell’s Basin near Pittsford, New York. Richardsons is a lovely venue and it was a happy event. This is a nice picture of my two girl friends, the birthday girl and my wife. We don’t have teenagers anymore. Twenty years have really slipped by quickly.
Well said..
I came across this video on TalkingPointsMemo. It’s to the point and part of what is wrong with both Democrats and Republicans.

No Room at the Inn
This short video clip chronicles some of the unbelievable devastation of the Kensington area of Philadelphia. We should have a new war on terror that focuses on the terror that our nation’s poor and homeless face each day. Continue reading “No Room at the Inn”
Could you please help our 9/11 heroes?
I saw a nice message on Huffington Post and I thought it deserved even more air time and coverage. Thanks to Michael Moore for taking the time to really care about the heroes of 9/11 who’ve been neatly forgotten by the politicians who never tire from the political mileage they attempt to leverage for their particular causes.
Mr. Giuliani, Could You Please Help Our 9/11 Heroes from huffpost and Vimeo.
Shift Happens
I may have written about this before, but it’s more timely each day. It’s a story that isn’t told much on mainstream media. Today’s politicians are focused on “important issues” like gay rights, gay marriage and abortion. The media has a larger story to tell about Paris Hilton and other celebrities. The MSM can’t be bothered with stories that really matter to you and I. That is why a short video clip has to circulated by bloggers, the Gutenbergs of the twenty-first century. I hope you take time to watch this well done video and ask yourself how this affects your life.

We’re surrounded by lots of folks who don’t realize that the world we were born into is changing. The United States is on its way down and both India and China are on their way up. Did you know that China holds most of our debt? When I was a young boy, Nikita Krushchev, former Soviet Premier, stood at the United Nations and stated, “we will bury you.” That was frightening to a little boy. We were soaked in fear by our government that the Soviets were going to do us in. We had air raid drills and nuclear disaster drills. We were always prepared for an armed onslaught from the dreaded Russians. It never happened, but what has happened is the gradual sell off of the United States by our own politicians and policy makers. We buried the Russians, but the Chinese and Indians are going to bury us and they won’t even fire a shot.
Dad
My father died 34 years ago today. I can remember getting a visit from our leading chief at the Naval Dispensary where I worked at the time. I was twenty years old and over a thousand miles from home. I was lucky. I wasn’t in a war zone like some of today’s twenty year olds are. Hearing about the death of your father can be a traumatic experience. I wasn’t totally surprised by the news. My Dad had been sick for a number of years prior to his death. At the time the autopsy showed that he died of pulmonary emboli. Continue reading “Dad”

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ‘Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me’.–St. Matthew 18:1-5
What Dad’s really want…
I got a poster mailed to me this week from the Peace Alliance. I used to think that our generation was going to be the one to end war. We had a lot of idealism in the 1960’s and 1970’s. We’d lived through Vietnam with its lies and subterfuge and we were seasoned. Continue reading “What Dad’s really want…”
Did you know?
I’ve seen the following presentation a number of times and each time I come away with something a little different. I love the music but I love the thoughts highlighted by the music. I work in a small school system that is populated with students, teachers, administrators and parents. In many ways our school is a place where children go for formation. Marriage
This morning I drove down to the town clerk’s office with a bill for some work I had just completed. As I sat waiting my turn to see the clerk there was a young couple giving the clerk information for a marriage license. Continue reading “Marriage”
