A time of re-creation

Tonight I drove over to Mt. Irenaeus for Mass, supper and an “Evening of Re-Creation.” This is the first evening of its kind I’ve been able to attend this summer. Everything from Fr. Bob’s homily to the evening session where Brother Kevin Kriso, OFM led a group of three people who shared about the topic of service was what I needed to hear. The gospel passage that was highlighted this evening was from Luke 7:20. Are you the one or should we expect someone other. How often I demand proof. Is this really what you want me to do. In other words are you the one or should I expect someone else. I’ve been doing that lately. Second guessing can sometimes appear cautious and logical but there comes a time when I must pick up my mat and walk. I must move forward with caution perhaps but move forward nonetheless. Sometimes re-creation and re-invention go hand in hand.

  1. Don,

I’ve been enjoying your posts, particularly as they relate to my alma mater and most especially my beloved Mountain. How I miss that place! Thank you for sharing its warmth and peace with the rest of the cyber world out there. I yearn to go back. It’s been ages. And I feel a deep need to show this place to my husband as he has never been there and has only heard me speak so much about it. It would be good for us both. After all, how can anyone visiting not leave with a sense of peace and a revived spirit?

I live in Baltimore now, but there are planes and trains and car rentals that would assist my journey up the mountain road.

    Warmest regards,
    Mary Robbins Phelan ’89

  2. Glad you like what I’m writing Mary. I’m sure you and your husband would be refreshed. I recently flew to Baltimore on Southwest Airlines from Buffalo. I arrived there a month ago today. I attended the NECC 2009 Conference in DC. 🙂 Don
