The blessing of family

We returned home late this morning to sunny skies in Buffalo and Western New York. We began our travel just past midnight from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. Parting with family is always tough for me. It hasn’t gotten much easier than the days I first left home to attend college and later to serve in the United States Navy. We had just spent a little over a week with my sister and her husband in the sunny confines of central and southern Arizona. Central and Southern Arizona with its unique desert climate are a sharp contrast with folks who spend much of their lives the shadow of the Great Lakes. It marked our first visit to the desert in mid-winter. We are grateful for the pleasure of sharing with family we don’t get to see very much due to relative distance from each other. Nonetheless it was great to see each other again and to share our lives and our stories. My sister just sent me a link to a wonderful recollection of a father and son. It’s all the more poignant now that our son and daughter have left our nest. I hope you enjoy this short presentation.
